Importance of being informed
Electronic commerce or e-commerce is a term for any type of business, or commercial transaction, that involves the transfer of information across the Internet.
E-commerce is an industry that seems to be growing faster by the day. Although traditional shopping inside of a brick-and-mortar outlet is still the preferred choice of many consumers, there is a growing segment of the population that enjoy buying goods and service online using a credit or debit card and have their purchases delivered directly. In an industry that is already worth $1 trillion, the amount of e-commerce payments continuing to flow through the digital ecosystem is staggering.
However, there are many companies who have yet to take advantage of the new way consumers like to shop. Starting a new e-commerce shopping portal isn't an easy endeavor. In fact, it takes a fair amount of planning and strategizing to ensure the success of the endeavor. Simply thinking that creating a Web storefront offering consumer goods will lead to success is not only shortsighted, but will fail to generate an adequate return on investment.
